Biography

Harlan Michael's music draws from the wellspring of nature and open spaces. He grew up on the prairie and plains of the upper mid-west. Inspired by his mother who often played guitar and sang, Harlan began playing and writing songs at age 14. At 19, he journeyed to the Pacific Northwest as a member of a folk music group. He has worked as a disc jockey and recording engineer/producer on various jingles and album projects. Harlan found a new home here amid the beauty of Mountains and Ocean. He is an avid climber and cross-country hiker. This Natural High is at the heart of his music, writings and visual arts.
Harlan Michael’s innovative artistry brings together modern technology and creativity to form a New Generation of Music dedicated to the Harmony of Body and Spirit.

Harlan Michael’s 2018 instrumental music CD release, “New Frontiers”, celebrates discovery in every decade.

In 2016 Harlan Michael released "Heavenly Water", a cd of thirteen original contemporary christian songs of inspirational and uplifting music.

Harlan's 2014 CD release, "Scattered Sky-Suite", presents ten original compositions of contemporary classical music for orchestra, rich in textures and melodies.

In this 2012 CD release, "A Change Of Season", Singer/Songwriter Harlan Michael presents fourteen original contemporary country songs like, "Heaven is Wherever You Are", "I Go Online", "Forgotten Street", "Wishing For the Sun", and nine additional songs that journey through the seasons of our ever changing lives.

Harlan Michael's 2010 release, "Blue Sky Prairie", is a collection of thirteen songs describing life on the prairie in earlier times.

"I Still Believe", released in 2008,is a collection of songs like,"Small Blue World","Thank You For Loving Me"and ten others that evoke a shared experience of life, nature and ideas.

Harlan Michael’s 1997 release, “Pieces Of Sun”, a musical celebration of the Joy of Light we give to others by our deeds of kindness and compassion, is perhaps more general in audience appeal. The fourteen selections include, Mist, Waiting for the Sun, Launching of a New Day, Cottage by the Sea, Journey, Land of Puzzles, April Days, Green Hills of Earth, Sun Dance, Mountain Meadow, Summer Afternoon, Woodland Walk, Mirage at Sunset, and Dreamland.

In 1996, “Discover the Moment”, poems by Harlan Michael was published by Autumn Lane Books. A collection of poems on Life, Love and the Journey of Moments. The seventy six poems represent an insightful look into the personal and universal thread of moments that weave the tapestry of our lives. Inspirational and imaginative.

His 1994 release of “Life Above The Lightning” CD/tape, has met with considerable success as media for massage and relaxation.
